Position

The compact, green district of Lindenhof is located in the university town of Mannheim, which has around 310,000 inhabitants. It is one of the most sought-after areas to live in. It includes the small, village-like Black Forest Quarter, the new Glückstein Quarter with modern residential buildings and the Waldpark, a green strip along the Rhine that is popular with joggers and cyclists. The district's landmarks are the three towers of St. John's Church, St. Joseph's Church and the former water tower known as the "Lanzturm" on the John Deere site. In the immediate vicinity is the John Deere Forum, which offers visitors the opportunity to see modern and historic agricultural machinery up close. The district along the southern bypass is more modern, where the "Glücksstein Quarter" is being built as a new urban district with apartments, services and commercial space. South of the main train station is the Victoria Tower, the district's most striking and, at 97.5 metres, the tallest building. Lindenhof's club life is also very diverse. The largest chess club in Mannheim is based here and the MFC 08 Lindenhof is the local football club. The Lindenhof district also has a canoe club, where canoe polo is played, among other things. Especially in summer, many Mannheim residents come to the Rhine meadows to enjoy the sun and nature. In the immediate vicinity there are numerous exceptional gastronomic offerings from cafés, ice cream factories and restaurants to bakeries. There is also a large selection of everyday items. Right on the doorstep is the green Pfalzplatz with a large area for games, sports, exercise and a community garden.
