Position

The municipality of Eppelheim belongs to the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and is located on the Neckar alluvial fan in the Upper Rhine Plain, just a few kilometers southwest of the Odenwald hills and directly on the A5 federal highway, which separates Eppelheim from the Heidelberg district of Pfaffengrund. The urban area is almost completely surrounded by the Heidelberg urban district, so Eppelheim borders the districts of Wieblingen in the north, Pfaffengrund in the east and Kirchheim in the south. To the west lies the municipality of Plankstadt, which belongs to the Rhine-Neckar district. Mannheim is about 20 kilometers northwest of Eppelheim. In Eppelheim there are various kindergartens run by local authorities, churches and private companies. The town has four schools: the Theodor Heuss elementary school, the Friedrich Ebert school, the Humboldt secondary school and the Dietrich Bonhoeffer high school. The Rudolf Wild works in the south are the largest employer in the town, with around 1,400 jobs. Eppelheim is located directly on the A5 motorway and is connected to it via the Heidelberg/Schwetzingen junction as well as the Heidelberg-Wieblingen junction of the A656 motorway. Due to its infrastructure, the town is enjoying increasing popularity, especially among young families and people working in the Heidelberg region.
